First Tee Youth Programs FAQs
If my participant is new to First Tee and golf, at which level should they start?
A: We offer programs from ages 5-18. New participants should join the class with their age range. Our coaches will make all games and lessons for all skill levels!
If participants want to join a supplemental golf skills program, they can join the Player Development Academy. In order to join the Player Development Academy, participants MUST be enrolled in a LSE class. We encourage, but do not require, participants to be enrolled in both the Player Development Academy and Life Skills Experience Golf Programs.
If my participant is a golfer but new to The First Tee, at which level should they start?
A: Sign up for the appropriate age level class and the coaches will adjust lesson plans to the group!
A: No experience is necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know!

How do I apply for financial aid?
A: This is part of the program registration process. Once you’ve created an account and selected a program/class to add to your cart, a series of questions will follow and financial aid will be one of them. Once the financial aid application and program registration is submitted, the financial aid application will be reviewed. Within 1-3 business days, you will receive a confirmation email with the status of your financial aid application. Once financial aid status has been approved, parents have 24 hours to complete the remaining program/class registration online and complete the cart check out process.
Where do we meet for class?
A: In the program room (Tattersall), the community room (Elson Redmond), or the Chipping Green (Belmont) unless otherwise specified.
How do we know if youth programs are cancelled for weather?
A: We will never cancel youth programs due to rain however, if there is threatening weather you will receive an email with direction and detail.
What should my participant wear to class?
A: Golf attire is preferred but not required. Please also make sure your participant is wearing athletic footwear.
Does my participant need golf clubs?
A: If your participant has their own clubs, we encourage them to bring them to youth programs. For those who do not have clubs, we will provide any necessary equipment.
If my participant cannot attend a program, can they attend a different class during the week as a make-up?
A: Due to our programs reaching max capacity, we can no longer offer make up options with a different class.
As a parent or guardian, what should I expect or do during programs?
A: Parents are welcome to stay and observe, but it is not a requirement. We ask that parents who are observing do not enter the class room and stick to a “cart path only” rule unless there is an emergency.
Are parents or guardians allowed to participate in programs?
A: While we welcome you to stay and observe our programs, we ask that parents and guardians refrain from participating in the class. Should you be interested in volunteering, please visit our website, www.thefirstteerva.org, and complete a volunteer application.
