Sterling Simmons III
Player Development Instructor
A former First Tee – Greater Richmond participant, Sterling joined the organization in 2019 in a full-time role. As a graduated participant of First Tee programming, he has become a PLAYer for life and has coached life skills classes for five years.
As a Player Development Instructor, Sterling leads First Tee – Greater Richmond’s Player Development Academy at both the Tattersall Youth Development Center and The Elson Redmond Memorial Driving Range. Sterling operates First Tee matches and oversees the organization’s PGA Jr. League teams, too. Sterling is a PGA Associate, First Tee Level 3 Coach, and certified in Operation 36.
Sterling graduated from Old Dominion University in 2018 and played on the club golf team for all four years. While there, he was a coach on the Norfolk Collegiate high school golf team, as well.
Sterling qualified for the 2021 and 2022 State Opens of Virginia and loves getting out on Belmont when he can. Off the course, Sterling enjoys video games and attending NHRA drag races.
